Apart from the European Schools, which receive grants from the European Commission, the other private international schools in Brussels operate with finances from parents or a parent’s employer.
So, private international schools generally offer two fee systems:
- Private tuition fees : for parents who finance their children’s education out of their own funds.
- Professional tuition fees : for employers who agree to finance all or part of the school fees of their employees’ children.
In general, school fees charged to employers are higher than those charged to parents who finance their children’s education out of their own funds. These annual school fees tend to increase over the years of study, reaching a maximum in the last year of secondary school.

Although costs vary greatly from one school to another, the price structure is more or less the same. This structure is generally set up as follows:

These are generally non-refundable and vary from 500€ to 1,500€ depending on the school. Some schools also add other costs related to the development of the school (500€ to 1,000€).

These fees tend to increase slightly each year. Indeed, private schools update their prices at the end of each academic year and this often results in a slight increase. Moreover, it can be observed that the further a pupil advances in his or her schooling, the more the price per school-level rises, reaching a maximum in the last year of secondary school.

These additional costs mainly concern services related to childcare, hot meals, extracurricular activities, private school transport, etc.
